If this is your first iPad, you’re undoubtedly wondering about some fundamental topics but are too afraid to ask. As a new iPad owner, you should be aware of some fundamental everyday tasks, which we have listed. Every one of them is quite helpful in boosting productivity and saving time.
Syncing an iPad with an iPhone
Syncing your iPad and iPhone should be one of your first steps in ensuring that all of your Apple devices are communicating with one another. ICloud makes this quick. To start, enter the Apple ID menu by clicking on your name at the top of the Settings app on either one of the two devices. Turn on toggle switches for everything you wish to be synced between your iPad and iPhone by tapping iCloud. Proceed similarly with your other device.
Note that this method only functions if you have signed into the same Apple ID on both devices and have turned on the same toggle switches on both.
Guide to Screen Recording
Screen recording on an iPad requires first adding the function to your Control Center. Select the green plus symbol next to Screen Recording after navigating to Settings > Control Center. This will give your Control Center the functionality.
Sliding down your display, tap the two-circle icon to access it. Your screen record will begin after a three-second countdown.
Hit the symbol once more after swiping to your Control Center. The red screen recording indicator at the top of your screen can also be tapped to initiate “Stop.”
A message telling you that your recording has been saved will appear. Go into your Photos app to see it.
Split Screen Basics
Click the three horizontal dots at the top of your screen to launch any app. Select either Slide Over or Split View as your view. The program will go to one side of the screen as soon as you do that so you may select your second app. Swipe freely on the pages of your home screen to choose any app you like. An app can also be selected from the dock shown at the bottom of your screen. With a tap on your second app, the view you choose will appear on your screen.
Should you choose Split View, it will show up next to your original app. Selecting Slide Over will enable you to position the second app in a smaller window on any side of the screen.
Two apps—the dock, Spotlight, or the multitasking menu—can be spread across your iPad screen.
Capturing a Screenshot
Press the home and top buttons at the same time if your iPad has one, then swiftly release both. After your iPad snaps a picture, a thumbnail will appear at the bottom left corner of the screen.
To view your screenshot later, slide left once on the thumbnail.
Should your iPad lack a home button, simultaneously press the top button and one of the two volume buttons, then immediately release both. Should all go according to plan, your screenshot will appear as a tiny thumbnail in the lower-left corner of your screen. To open it, tap it; to dismiss it, swipe left.
Pairing Your Second Generation Apple Pencil
Just set your Pencil where your iPad’s volume controls are. It will instantly join to a magnetic connector on that side, exactly in the middle. That will sound a gratifying click. When your Pencil is paired, an iPad pop-up will let you know. Pull it back out and get to work.
As always, Tech Time is here to help and can assist you with setting up your new iPad!
